Salmonella Vaccination Reminder!
Farmers, as you prepare for your herd’s Salmonella vaccination, keep in mind that subclinical trace-element deficiencies can significantly reduce vaccine effectiveness—anywhere from 15-80% depending on the severity.
It’s crucial to ensure your cows have adequate mineral levels to boost the success of their vaccination.
Here are three ways to support your herd before vaccinating:
Blood Testing: Conduct a blood test on 6-8 cows before vaccination to check their mineral status.
Multimin Injection: Administer Multimin at the time of vaccination to give them a mineral boost.
Trace-Element Bolus: Consider using a long-acting trace-element bolus, ideally at least 10 days prior to vaccination.
These steps will help ensure your herd gets the full benefit of the Salmonella vaccine. Make sure to consult with us for any questions or assistance with testing and supplements.
